The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saints Vitus, Wenceslaus and Adalbert is the largest and the most important cathedral in Prague. The building has always dominated the Prague Castle and the city. The cathedral also has a very rich history. In the 10th century, the Romanesque rotunda stood there but was rebuilt as a larger Romanesque basilica at the end of the 11th century. In the 14th century, the building of the Gothic Cathedral started and was reconstructed from the end of the 19th to the first half of the 20th century.

In the past, church services and coronations of Czech kings and queens took place there. The Saint Vitus Cathedral is also a place of deposition of the remains of Czech saints, monarchs, noblemen or archbishops. Located in the building of the Cathedral, there is also the biggest bell in the Czech Republic – the Bell called Zikmund was alloyed in 1549, its weight is about 13,5 tonnes and its diameter is 2,56 meters. The most important part of the Cathedral is the unique St. Wenceslaus Chapel. The old legend says that Bohemian coronation jewels are stored there behind the seven locks.

Old Town Square is situated between Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge in Prague and is one of the most attractive squares in Europe. The most important Prague square is a huge tourist attraction. Surrounded by several historical houses, the Old Town Square stands right in the middle of the historical centre and is its oldest square, its history dates back to the 10th century. The biggest attraction for tourists is undoubtedly the Old Town Hall with its almost 70-metres high tower and especially the Old Town Horologe, the astronomical clock that attracts loads of tourists to watch movements of apostles every hour.

Besides the Old Town Hall, there are also several other splendid sights that dominate the square – twin towers of Gothic Týn Cathedral, Baroque Church of Saint Nicholas, Rococo Kinský Palace with the National Gallery and much more. Situated in the middle of the square, there is the monument of the Protestant reformer Jan Hus. The Old Town Square can offer unforgettable experiences, beautiful views and irreplaceable atmosphere.

Old Town Hall is one of the most visited sights in Prague. The building was founded in 1338 as the first Town Hall in the Czech Republic. It consists of the complex of several historic houses surrounding the Old Town Square. It’s elegant, almost 70-metres high tower dominates the Old Town Square and City for 6 centuries. The construction of the monumental prismatic tower was finished in the 14th century. The view that the tower offers is one of the most beautiful views in Prague.

The building is a very popular tourist attraction especially thanks to the Old Town Horologe, the astronomical clock and moving figures of twelve apostles. It is located on the southern side of the tower and attracts thousands of tourists every day. The unique technical monument was made in 1410 and measures Old Bohemian and Babylon time as the last in the world. Every hour, the Horologe attracts tourists to watch the fantastic little scene with moving figures of apostles, moving statues and the ringing of the bell on the top of the tower that marks the end of the show.
